Support us

St. Laurence: Stroud Centre for Peace and the Arts is becoming a place set-apart - set apart for the scared: for sacred music, for scared art and for sacred silence. Increasingly we are "an inclusive spiritual space on Stroud's foundational site", open to all people of any faith or none. You are invited to join with us in this continuing transformation by donating money and/or time, skills and expertise.

Donating money

In common with all Church of England churches St. Laurence receives no money from the wider church and is entirely self-supporting. As a result we are dependent on the financial support of those who share in our vision of being a space for faith, the arts, ecology and justice - a space to find peace in ourselves and in the world. Inevitably, this ongoing process requires financial support - the church currently costs £2,000 a week (over £100,000 a year) to run.

If you would like to give financial support to the transformational work of St. Laurence: Stroud Centre for Peace and the Arts, please use the link below and you will be taken to our secure payment service, the Parish Giving Scheme* where you can either give a one-off gift or set up regular payments.

Gift Aid

Remember, if you are a regular UK taxpayer you can Gift Aid your donation, whereby we can increase the value of your donation by reclaiming the basic rate of tax on your gift at no extra cost to yourself.

Sponsoring a particular project

If you are an individual or organisation, you may want to personally sponsor a particular aspect or element of our ongoing work, or a particular event that may be happening at the church, or perhaps a new piece of artwork. If this is something you may be interested in doing, then, again, we would love to hear from you. Key projects currently seeking funding are:

  • The Building Regeneration Project - looking after the physical buildings of St Laurence Church and St Laurence Rooms. Urgent work includes work on the roof, gutters, windows and heating.
  • Community Work - developing our community and social enterprise model, working alongside other hubs in the Stroud area. This donation would contribute to The Well, alongside our events programme, and other community offerings.
  • Creative Partnerships - working with our creative partners. These donations allow us to provide a venue to these events and contribute to the cultural landscape of Stroud.
  • Stroud Parish Churches Ministry - Supporting our services and vicars, and the wider ministry of Stroud Parish churches.

Please contact Kate Raw for further information how to give to specific projects.

Corporate Partnership

We would also be happy to talk to any other organisations who might like to join us in partnership and buy into a joint vision of St Laurence as a multi-purpose Centre for Peace and the Arts in Stroud.

Leaving a gift in your Will

Each year around 5,000 people leave a gift in their wills to a Church of England parish - money to finance redevelopment projects, maintain beautiful church buildings, or enable some other aspect of church life. These gifts make a real difference to the future work of the church – as regular giving is often consumed maintaining the existing mission and ministry. For many people, leaving a gift in a will is a final opportunity to say thank you to God for God’s blessing to them and to help the development of their church family. Making a will and keeping it up to date is a simpler and less expensive process than many people imagine. You can find out all about how to leave a gift in your will here -
