The Stroud Sacred Music Festival started as an idea amongst friends in the autumn of 2014. The aim was to create an event that promoted unity and peace by celebrating the power music has in bringing people together and breaking down barriers. Inspired by co-founders Rev'd Simon Howell and Girish Patel, and backed by a whole army of volunteers, the first festival took place in 2015, and it has now become an annual event every July.

Each year the festival and its associated events bring together a soulful and eclectic mix of music from a whole range of sacred traditions – including Christian, Hindu, Muslim and Jewish, as well as the music of indigenous peoples. It is a celebration of difference and diversity within our community, and is open to everyone, whether they are a person of faith or not.
