Governance: Stroud Parish Churches

St Laurence is a member church of “Stroud Parish Churches”, covering nine church buildings from Randwick to Slad.  The official title of this grouping is Stroud Team Ministry, referring to the team of three paid clergy, headed by the Team Rector, Revd James Turk (see “Meet the Team”).

St Laurence is (since 2025) a registered charity (No. 1214925), the official title of which is “The Parochial Church Council of the Ecclesiastical Parish of Stroud St Laurence in the Diocese of Gloucester”.  The Parochial Church Council (PCC) is the charity trustee body.  PCC members (including churchwardens) are elected from and by members of the church Electoral Roll at the annual general meeting (known as the Annual Parochial Church Meeting), usually held in April or May.  The current clergy Chair of the St Laurence PCC is Revd Simon Howell.

The PCC has a number of sub-groups that do or oversee most of the work that keeps St Laurence flourishing.  The current sub-groups are:

Programme and Hospitality Group (convened by Katie Lloyd-Nunn)

Social Enterprise Development Board (chaired by Revd James Turk supported by Peter Chester)

Buildings Regeneration Group (chaired by Hugh Richards)

St Laurence Restored Project Board (chaired by Hugh Richards) Linked to the Buildings Regeneration Group but reporting directly to the PCC, ensuring the accountability expected by the National Lottery Heritage Fund as the main funder of the project.

Membership of the sub-groups is open to anyone with appropriate skills, capacity and alignment with the St Laurence Mission, Values and Principles.

If you are interested in getting involved, contact one of the relevant people or email office@stroudparishchurches.org.uk.
