St Laurence Quarter, a new free and fascinating exhibition created by Stroud Local History Society celebrating the area surrounding our historic church of St Laurence.

St Laurence Church is the foundational building of Stroud and over the centuries the town has developed around it and its churchyards. This is an exciting new exhibition put together by the wonderful Stroud Local History Society builds the idea of a St Laurence Quarter. We are delighted to be hosting this exhibition and thank the support of The National Heritage Lottery Fund for making this possible as part of the St Laurence Restored Development Phase.

Open from Friday 28 August to Monday 28 September, the exhibition explores the remarkable history of the buildings and streets around the church, and the many different lives they have had over the centuries.

As exhibition co-ordinator and historian Marion Hearfield says:

“Stroud has such a long history that it gives us great satisfaction when visitors to our exhibitions say, ‘Well, I didn’t know that!’”

Come along and discover something new about this historic part of Stroud. Entry is free and everyone is welcome.
