Bells, crosses and treasure

Step inside St Laurence Church this summer and uncover centuries of hidden history.
This free exhibition showcases a fascinating collection of archaeological finds discovered in and around the church, from Roman roof tiles and medieval artefacts to everyday objects that reveal the stories of people who lived, worked and worshipped here over hundreds of years.
Visitors can also enjoy a new short film exploring the history and heritage of St Laurence’s ten bells and meet the community of bell ringers who keep this centuries-old tradition alive.
As part of the St Laurence Restored – Preserving Stroud’s Historic Heart project, you’ll also have the opportunity to share your ideas for the church’s historic apex crosses and discover more about plans to secure the future of this much-loved landmark.
